Australia

Qantas Ramp Staff belonging to the Australian Transport Workers Union held a four-hour national work stoppage on Tuesday 20 September, 2011.

The stoppage took place at the following times in each port:

• Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne (international services): 7am-11am
• Cairns: 9am -1pm
• Perth: 5am - 9am
• Canberra 3.30pm – 7.30pm
• Hobart 7am - 11am
• Adelaide 10.30am - 2.30pm
• Darwin 6am - 10am
• Perth 5am - 9am
• Brisbane ramp 6am - 10am
• Townsville 8am - 12midday
• Other ports 7am - 11am local time

The TWU action covers Qantas Ramp staff only. Despite Qantas’ efforts to minimize the disruption to flights during the TWU Action a number of flights were rescheduled or cancelled.

Thailand Post has informed us that heavy rains and flooding in most parts of the country are causing disruptions in mail operations, resulting in possible delays in the delivery of postal items in the following postcode areas: 11XXX – 14XXX, 16XXX – 17XXX, 20XXX – 23XXX, 25XXX – 26XXX, 32XXX, 35XXX, 42XXX, 45XXX, 48XXX – 49XXX, 55XXX, 58XXX, 60XXX – 61XXX, 65XXX, 67XXX, 72XXX – 73XXX, 81XXX – 86XXX, 91XXX – 92XXX.
